There are numerous ways to increase gas mileage in full size Chevy trucks. Gas mileage in Chevrolet full-size trucks has benefited from technological innovations in recent years including improvements in the fuel injection systems and the Active Fuel Management feature that allows the engine to run on four cylinders while idling. I own an ’08 four-wheel drive Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab. It has the 5.3-liter v8, plenty of power to haul the equipment my job requires. I bought it new from my Georgia Chevy dealer, and brand new it got about 17 miles per gallon. After some research and simple adjustments, I am able to average 20 and sometimes even 23 miles per gallon on the highway! Although this is not great, it is much better than comparable vehicles.
