The "Best. Civic. Ever." gets a bigger and roomier sibling.
We just finished writing our praise-filled review of Honda's new Civic Si when we got word that there will be a new Civic Si before the end of the year. For the first time ever, Honda will be offering a sedan version of its sportiest Civic. A Civic Si Sedan Concept was just revealed at the Chicago Auto Show, and we must say that this is the best-looking Civic sedan yet. Well okay... the Civic Hybrid Sport Sedan (from the '05 Tokyo Motor Show) and the Civic Dominator (from the '06 Tokyo Auto Salon) are way more bad-ass. But as far as U.S.-spec Civics are concerned, this Si concept isn't too bad. Besides, unlike the Hybrid Sport or Dominator concepts, the Si Sedan concept will be available at all Honda dealerships and it will look remarkably close to the concept pictured here. The good news about this sedan is that it will keep all of the Si Coupe's excellent features. This means that the 2.0-liter 194-horsepower engine, limited slip differential, slick 6-speed gearbox and everything will come over to the sedan fully intact. Oh yeah, now that the Si is available as a sedan, more than 1 passenger can ride along in comfort. So what's not hot about the Civic Si sedan concept? Well, we really like the 4-piston Brembo brakes, the custom 18-inch wheels and the aero kit, but chances are these pieces won't make it onto the final production-spec car. Bummer...
Oh well, it's not like the absence of those pieces really matters. This is a Civic Si after all, so we're sure that aftermarket companies will have all of these pieces available the minute this car hits showrooms.
The Civic Si sedan is slated to go on sale in late 2006 as a 2007 model. Damn, now we have to choose between two Civic Sis... While we wait for this car to hit showrooms, be sure to check out our Media Page for more pictures of this kick-ass sedan.
